Biography

Lenora Fisher had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1955 Pan American Games 100 metre backstroke, 2nd in the 1955 Pan American Games 4×100 metre medley (with Helen Stewart, Beth Whittall, and Virginia Grant).

In the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games she finished fourth in the 110 yards backstroke and fifth in the 3×110 yards medley relay (with Virginia Grant and the non-Olympian Margaret Stangroom).

Her later husband Ronald “Ron” Gilchrist was a member of the Canadian team which was eliminated in the heats of the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 4×220 yards freestyle relay.
