Helen Stewart-Hunt had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 4×110 yards Freestyle Relay (with Beth Whittall, Gladys Priestley, and Virginia Grant); 1st in the 1955 Pan American Games 100 metre freestyle, 2nd in the 1955 Pan American Games 4×100 metre freestyle (with Gladys Priestley, Virginia Grant, and Beth Whittall), 2nd in the 1955 Pan American Games 4×100 metre medley (with Lenora Fisher, Beth Whittall, and Virginia Grant), 2nd in the 1959 Pan American Games 4×100 metre freestyle (with Margaret Iwasaki, Sara Barber, and the non-Olympian Sandra Scott). In the 1959 Pan American Games Stewart-Hunt competed under her married name.
After her swimming career she won four Canadian volleyball championships (1964 and 1966-68) and was a member of the Canadian Pan American Games volleyball team in 1967 (finished sixth) and 1971 (placed fifth).
