Biography

East German swimmer Sabina Schulze won the 4x100 freestyle relay gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, although she only swam the heats. With the relay she also won the gold medal at the 1986 World Championships. In 1989, she won another relay gold medal at the European Championships. Domestically, she won four national relay titles.

Schulze’s parents Karin Rüger-Schulze and Thomas Schulze were high jumpers. Her brother Thomas was a shot putter, while another brother Michael was also a swimmer. Sabina later moved to Pforzheim and became a bank clerk.
