Biography

Ralf Braun was a German backstroke swimmer who finished seventh in the 100 metres at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He also participated in the 200 metres but failed to qualify for the semi-finals, as also happened at Sydney in 2000. With the Atlanta 4x100 IM relay squad he finished an unfortunate fourth only 0.08 seconds behind Australia. In 1998, he won the 200 metres silver medal at the World Championships in Perth.

In 1999 Braun was European Champion, having won a relay silver and an individual bronze in 1997. He also won six German national titles, over 100 metres in 1997-98, and 200 metres in 1996-98, and in 2000.
