Steve Gregg won the 1976 NCAA 200 yard butterfly. He also won the AAU indoor 100 butterfly in 1976 and, at both the 1975 Pan-American Games and the 1976 Olympics, he took the silver medal in the 200 fly. After graduating from North Carolina State University, Gregg obtained a PhD in exercise biochemistry and physiology at U Cal Berkeley. He and his family settled in the Chicago area where he still swims for exercise. Gregg has also been a supporter of the USA Swimming Foundation as a charter member of the Foundation’s Champions Club.
