Biography

One of the greatest female guards to ever play basketball, Teresa Edwards played collegiately at the University of Georgia, where she was a consensus All-American in 1984 and 1985. Her record is unmatched by women in international competition. She won gold medals at the 1984, 1988, 1996, and 2000 Olympics, and a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics, and her five Olympic medals, and four golds, are both Olympic basketball records. She also was the playmaking leader of championship teams at the 1986 and 1990 World Championships, the 1986 and 1990 Goodwill Games, and the 1987 Pan-American Games. In 1991, she played on the U.S. team that won a bronze at the Pan-American Games. She was the USA Basketball player of the year in both 1987 and 1991.
