Mahmoud Namdjou had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1952 Olympics Bantamweight class (307.5 kg); 3rd in the 1956 Olympics Bantamweight class (332.5 kg); 1st in the 1949 World Championships Bantamweight class (315.0 kg); 1st in the 1950 World Championships Bantamweight class (310.0 kg); 1st in the 1951 World Championships Bantamweight class (317.5 kg); 2nd in the 1954 World Championships Bantamweight class (307.5 kg); 3rd in the 1955 World Championships Bantamweight class (312.5 kg); 3rd in the 1957 World Championships Bantamweight class (320.0 kg). He set three world records - one in the clean & jerk, and two in the total.
