Biography

Jiří Kormaník competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1960, 1964, and 1968 Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1964 at Tokyo. He also won two bronze medals in Greco-Roman at the World Championships, in 1965 and 1968. Kormaník also carried the Czechoslovakian flag at the 1960 Roma Opening Ceremony. He was a 10-time Czechoslovak champion between 1958-68, failing only in 1966. He also wrestled freestyle, winning Czechoslovak titles in that style in 1958-60 and 1962. His recorded career matches totaled 635, with 501 victories, 78 defeats, and 56 draws.
