Biography

Russ Camilleri was a United States’ wrestler who competed in Greco-Roman at the 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games. Camilleri competed in freestyle at the 1961 and 1963 World Championships, finishing sixth both times.

Camilleri wrestled in college at San Jose State University, winning the 1958 Pacific Coast Conference Championship. He won 12 US titles between 1960-72 in both styles of wrestling. Camilleri served five years in the US Air Force and won six Inter-Service Championships. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010.

Camilleri went into the insurance business, managing three offices in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1970s. He also managed Saddletown, a riding and boarding stable in Pacifica, California.
