Biography

An ethnic North Macedonian, Blagoja Georgievski played for Yugoslavia at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics, winning a silver in Montréal. He started with the Yugoslavia Youth team that won the Balkanada in Rijeka in 1970. Georgievski won silver at the 1971 European Championships, and helped Yugoslavia to gold medals at the 1971 and 1975 Mediterranean Games.

After Yugoslavia split up, Georgievski worked as a coach with the Macedonian senior team. He was a member of the Managing Board and Assembly of the Macedonian Olympic Committee, and President of the IOC Olympic Council. He was named to the Club of Greats of the Macedonian Olympic Committee in 1997. Georgievski died in a car accident when his car went out of control on a slippery road and crashed into concrete blocks, killing him instantly.
