Biography

Jindřich Jirsák was a pole vault specialist who represented Bohemia and Czechoslovakia. Competing for Bohemia at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics Jirsák cleared 3.00 metres to set a national record but failed to advance to the final of the competition. Two years later he improved his own record with a vault of 3.74 metres, which stood until 1930. At the Stockholm Olympic Jirsák was scheduled to compete in the 4 × 100 metres relay, the 4 × 400 metres relay, the pentathlon, and the decathlon, but did not start in any of them. Jirsák was also listed to compete in the pole vault at the 1924 Paris Olympics but again did not start.
