Biography

Yves Camus joined the French national track athletics team in 1948, specializing in the 4x100 metres relay. His greatest success came at the 1950 European Championships, when he took silver in that event, alongside Étienne Bally and the non-Olympians Jacques Perlot and Jean-Pierre Guillon. Two years later, he and Bally finished fifth in the relay with Alain Porthault and René Bonino. He was also eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 400 metres at those Games and was a reserve with the 4x400 metres relay. Four years later, in Melbourne, he was a reserve with both relays, but only competed in the 200 metres, where he was eliminated in the first round and subsequently retired from active competition. Domestically, he won the French 400 metres title in 1952 and twice held the national record in the 4x100 metres relay.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.7 (1950); 200 – 21.5 (1950); 400 – 47.8 (1952).
