Biography
Antônio Salvador Sucar, always known to Brazilian basketball fans only as Sucar, played for Brazil at the 1960, 1964, and 1968 Olympic Games, winning bronze medals in 1960 and 1964. Sucar was a World Champion with the Brazilian team in 1963, and added a bronze medal at the 1967 World Championship. He also won a silver medal at the 1963 Pan American Games.
Sucar was born in San Isidro de Lules, Argentina, but his family moved to Brazil when he was 7-years-old. He played club ball with Sport Club Sirio in São Paulo and won five state titles, five Brazilian titles, and five South American Championships.
