Biography

Teodoro Palacios competed in the high jump at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where he was also the Guatemalan flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony. Palacios won a silver medal in the high jump at the 1963 Pan American Games, and also finished fourth in that event at the 1959 and 1967 Pan Ams. At the Central American and Caribbean Games, Palacios won four medals in the high jump, golds in 1959, 1962, and 1966, and a silver in 1970. His son, Marcos “Kosine” Palacios, became a composer in the USA, and was later nominated for Grammy Awards.
