Gvido Jekals was a Latvian all-round track and field athlete who was active during the 1920s. During his athletics career Jekals won twenty national titles including the 110 metres hurdles (1924, 1927–28), 4 x 100 metres relay (1923–24, 1925–26), high jump (1924–27), long jump (1924), and decathlon (1924, 1927). At the 1924 Paris Olympics he ran in both the 100 and 200 metres, and finished 14th in the decathlon. Jekals later studied medicine at the University of Latvia and worked in local health practices in Rīga after graduating. By 1950 he had moved to the United States where he worked in a hospital and his own private practice in Ohio.
