Biography

Agata Karczmarek (né Jaroszek) was a 14-time Polish Champion in the long jump (1985-89, 1991-97, 1999-2000), adding an additional 10 titles indoors in the long jump (1986-87, 1989, 1993-97, 1999-2000). She competed multiple times internationally for Poland from 1985-99, including her three Olympic appearances in 1988, 1992, and 1996. She appeared in five World Championships, three European Championships, four World Indoors, and three European Indoors. Karczmarek’s only international medal was a bronze won at the 1997 World Indoors. Karczmarek set the Polish long jump record of 6.97 in August 1988, a mark that stood into 2016. She competed throughout her career for CWKS Legia Warszawa.
