Zenon Licznerski was a sprinter who ran at the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games, helping Poland win a silver medal in the 4x100 relay at the Moskva Olympics. Licznerski was capped 31 times in his career, setting 15 Polish records, and winning 14 Polish titles (100m – 1976-77; 200m – 1976-77; 4x100 – 1976-81, 1983-85, 1987). His greatest international achievement came in 1978 when he helped Poland win the European Championships in the 4x100 relay.
Licznerski ran for Start Elbląg (1969-72), Lechia Gdańsk (1972-74), Górnik Zabrze (1975-76), and Legia Warszawa (1977-87). He was a graduate of the local Basic School of Zakłady Mechaniczne “Zamech”, and was a non-commissioned officer in the Polish Army. After he retired from competition, he became a coach and trainer. Licznerski was twice given the Polish Gold Medal for Outstanding Sports Achievement.
