Biography

Victor Arbez was French junior champion in cross-country skiing in 1954, and was named to the French senior team in 1956, competing in cross-country at Cortina d’Ampezzo. He later competed at three more Winter Olympics – 1960, 1964, 1968 – and in 1960 also competed in the inaugural Olympic biathlon race. Arbez participated in three World Championships in cross-country skiing. His palmarès include a victory in the Tournois International de Ski des Douanes, and the 1964 Kurikkala Cup. He skied for Morbier and Bellefontaine. Arbez was married to Christiane Bouveret and they had four children, three girls and a boy. The boy, Patrick, later became a ski monitor at Rousses. Victor Arbez had a piste named for him at Bellefontaine.
