Biography

Alexandru Budișteanu was a Romanian bobsledder. Budișteanu competed in the two-man bobsleigh at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics. He and his partner Dumitru Gheorghiu finished in 16th place. Budișteanu was also part of the Romanian sled for the four-man event, but the team did not complete the fourth and final run. Budișteanu and Alexandru Frim became the national champions in the two-man bobsleigh in 1944.

Budișteanu was killed on a bobsleigh track when he was competing at the 1951 World University Winter Games at the Poiana Brașov ski resort. Budișteanu was part of the four-man bobsleigh that crashed on the penultimate turn of the track. He died after being thrown outside of the turn.
