Biography

Cyclist Willy Arend had a long career as a professional in Germany, racing from 1896 through 1923. He was World Champion in the sprint in 1897 and runner-up in 1903. Arend was first German sprint champion in 1896, repeating in 1897 and then again, 24 years later, in 1921. He raced six-days later in his career winning at Kiel and Bremen in 1910. Arend also won European Championships in the 10 km track race in 1897, 1898, and 1901.
