Biography

Yury Lebedev began playing for CSKA Moskva from 1968-70. He then played one season with SKA Moskva Oblast, before joining Krylya Sovetov Moskva in 1971, where he played until the end of his career in 1985, except one season in 1982-83, when he played in Germany with SV Hamburg. With Krylya Sovetov Lebedev won one Soviet title (1974) and one European Champions Cup title (1975). He was also named as part of the best line of the Soviet Championships in 1974. Internationally besides his Olympic silver medal in 1980, Lebedev was World champion six times (1973-75, 1978, 1979, 1981) and European champion five times (1973-75, 1979, 1981). He also won silver at the 1978 European Championships. Lebedev also took part in both the 1972 and 1974 Summit Series and won bronze at the 1976 Canada Cup. After his sporting career Lebedev worked as a coach with Krylya Sovetov Moskva.
