Biography

Aleksandr Pashkov played for six clubs during his career – 1962-63 Lokomotiv Moskva, 1963-67 Krylya Sovetov Moskva, 1967-69 CSKA Moskva, 1969-74 Dynamo Moskva, 1974-80 Khimik Voskrosensk and 1980-82 again with Krylya Sovetov. Pashkov won his only Soviet title in 1968, while playing with CSKA Moskva. Internationally Pashkov played only 11 games with the Soviet national team, always as the second goaltender behind Vladislav Tretyak.

Pashkov won Olympic gold in 1972 and was World Champion in 1978 and runner-up at the European Championships in 1978. After his sporting career ended Pashkov worked from 1987-92 as a coach with the Soviet national team, specializing in coaching goaltenders. In 1993 he had a brief spell as a coach with Spartak Moskva, before working as a coach with CSKA Moskva from 1994-98. Since 1999 Pashkov has been working as a coach with Torpedo Yaroslavl. He also works as a hockey commentator with TV channel Sport.
