Biography

Vladimir Voronkov made his international début at the 1968 Olympics where he was fourth in both the 30 km and relay, was 16th at 50 km and 22nd in the 15 km. At the 1970 World Championships Voronkov won a gold in the relay and also repeated his relay victory at the 1972 Olympics, where he was 12th in the 15 km. Domestically Voronkov won five Soviet titles – two at 15 km (1970, 1971), one at 50 km (1970), one at 70 km (1971) and one in the relay (1968). After his competitive career Voronkov worked for a long time as a cross-country skiing coach with the Soviet Army.
