Biography

Szczepan Witkowski was a Polish solider and skier. Following the outbreak of World War I Witkowski joined the Polish Legions. After the end of the war Witkowski joined the Pogoń Lwów sports club before joining Czarni Lwów in 1921. From 1918 to 1928 Witkowski played football for Czarni Lwów.

Witkowski competed in two events at the 1924 Chamonix Olympics. Witkowski finished in 21st place in the 50 kilometres cross-country race. Witkowski was also part of the Polish team that competed in the military ski patrol. The Polish team did not finish the event after Witkowski fainted during the race.

After the end of his sporting career Witkowski worked in tourism and skiing. Sadly Witkowski died of typhus in May 1937. He was 38.
