Biography

Flatwater canoeist Christian Holzenberg came fourth at the 1936 Berlin Olympics with his partner Walter Schuur in the C-2 over 10 km. Two years later they won the bronze medal at the World Championships. They won the German national title over 1,000 metres in 1935 and the 10 km title three years in a row from 1935-37. Holzenberg was killed-in-action in 1942 on the Eastern front during World War II at Kurzewo (RUS).
