There were three music events in the 1948 Arts Competition – Compositions for Orchestra, Competitions for Solo or Chorus, and Instrumental and Chamber Music. There were 36 submitted works with 19 participants from 10 nations. There is no known complete list of entrants for the 1948 music competitions, although it is known that Austria, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Poland had entries. However, with few exceptions, only the prize winners are known in each category.
