At the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the team event was held at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, running from 6-8 February. It featured 23 singles, 9 pairs, and 11 ice dance teams from 10 nations across the four disciplines. Teams earned points for placements, with the top five after qualifying advancing to the final.

During the qualifying rounds on day one and day two, where the short programs/rhythm dance were skated for each discipline, the top five teams were the United States (34 points), Japan (22 points), Italy (28 points), Canada (27 points), and Georgia (25 points). The bottom five – France, South Korea, China, Great Britain, and Poland – were eliminated and did not skate in the final.

In the final rounds on days three and four, the five advancing teams skated their free programs in each discipline. The gold was decided by just one point between the USA (69 points) and Japan (68 points), one of the closest finishes in Olympic team event history. Italy earned bronze (60 points), marking the host nation’s first Olympic medal in the team event. Georgia finished fourth with 56 points, and Canada fifth with 54 points.

Key performances for the gold medal-winning United States team included Ilia Malinin’s five quadruple jumps in the men’s free skate scoring 200.03 pts (the highest individual score in the team event), while Madison Chock and Evan Bates won the ice dance free dance segment with a season’s best score of 133.23 points, earning maximum points for Team USA and helping build a lead going into the final day.

The United States is the only country to have medaled at every Olympic team event, winning gold in 2022 and 2026, and bronze in 2014 and 2018.
