Biography

German curler Andy Kapp, brother of Uli Kapp and father of Benjamin Kapp, participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics when curling was a demonstration event and finished eighth. At the 1998 Nagano, 2006 Torino, and 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Kapp reached a sixth place as his best result in 2010. At World Championships he won two silver medals, in 1997 and 2007, and two bronze medals in 1995 and 2005. In 1992 and 1997, he won European titles.

Kapp won 14 national championships with his home club Curling Club Füssen (1990-91, 1994-95, 1997, 1999-2001, 2005, 2007-11). He was also European mixed champion in 2013, and German mixed champion in 2013, 2015, and 2016. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. By profession, Kapp owned a frozen food wholesale company.
