Biography

Manuel Martínez first was noticed internationally when he finished second at the 1992 World Junior Championships in the shot put. In 1993 he won the gold medal at the European Juniors. His major titles includes golds in 2001 at the Universiade, Mediterranean Games, and European Indoors. In 2003 he won his biggest title with the World Indoor Championship. His final major title came in 2009 when he again won gold at the Mediterranean Games. His other podium appearances at internationals include seconds at the 2000 European Indoors and 2005 Mediterraneans, and thirds at the 2001 World Indoors, 2004 World Athletics Final, and 2005 European Indoors. In 2010 Martínez turned to film, starring in the Spanish film Estigmas (Stigmata) in the role of Bruno.

Personal Best: SP – 21.47 (2002).
