Biography

German breaststroke swimmer Jens Kruppa won the bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the silver medal at the Athens in 2004, both with the 4x100 medley relays. He also participated in individual events but failed to reach a final. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.

At World Championships, Kruppa earned the IM relay silver medal in 2001 and, at the Short-Course Worlds, won two bronze medals over 100 and 200 metres breaststroke in 1997. At Europeans he added five more gold medals, four silvers, and three bronzes. Kruppa studied sport management and became a swimming coach with the German Bundeswehr, TUI Robinson Club, and at his hometown Dresden.
