Artistic Gymnastics at the 2004 Summer Olympics

Dates 14 – 23 August 2004
Medal Events 14

The 2004 gymnastics events were held at the Olympiako Kleisto Gymnastirio, or Olympic Indoor Hall, which was part of the Olympiako Athletiko Kentro Athinon Spiros Loues sporting complex, usually known in Greek as the OAKA Spiros Loues. This venue was completed in 1995 and still is used extensively for sporting events and entertainment events. In addition to artistic gymnastics, trampoline was contested here in 2004, as well as the finals for both men’s and women’s basketball.

The eight men’s events were won by eight different nations, with Japan and Romania both winning four medals and the United States three. On the women’s side, Romania and the United States won six medals, but Romanian women won four events, with the others won by the United States and France. The individual star was Romania’s Cătălina Ponor, who won three gold medals.
