This was the final shooting event of the 2012 Olympics. Australian Michael Diamond led the qualifying with a 125 possible to equal the world qualifying round record. But he struggled in the final hitting only 20 of 25 clays for 145, which tied him for third with Kuwait’s Fehaid Al-Deehani. Croatia’s Giovanni Cernogoraz was ranked #22 in the world coming into London and tied for the final spots in fifth place in qualifying with 122. But he missed only his 15th clay in the final round to score 146, tying with Italy’s Massimo Fabbrizi who had gone through with 122 + 24 points for 146. Cernogoraz and Fabbrizi shot off for the gold with Cernogoraz winning Croatia’s first shooting gold medal by hitting the first six targets in the shoot-off.

Diamond and Al-Deehani also shot off for the bronze medal. This time Diamond missed his fourth target as Al-Deehani won the bronze medal. In 2008 Diamond had also shot-off for the bronze medal with Russian Aleksey Alipov, also placing fourth that year.
