Biography

Chiara Boggiatto followed in the footsteps of her older brother Alessio to become a leading Italian swimmer. She started her career at the Sisport FIAT cub in Torino under coach Fabrizio Miletto, before moving to LaPresse Nuoto. A breaststroke specialist, she won 27 Italian titles between 2001-07 at distances from 50 to 200 metres. Boggiatto finished fourth in the 4x100 medley relay at the 2004 European Championships in Madrid, and the following year won bronze in both the 100 and 200 m. Having won the 200 metre gold medal at the 2001 Mediterranean Games, she added a silver in 2009, when she also won a 100 gold and 4x100 medley silver at that year’s Summer Universiade. Boggiatto collected another European medal in 2010 (200 m bronze) and at the 2012 Europeans at Debrecen, rounded off her illustrious career with the 4x100 medley silver, alongside Arianna Barbieri, Ilaria Bianchi and Alice Mizzau.

Personal Bests: 50 m breast – 31:85; 100 m breast – 1:07.15; 200 m breast – 2:25.90.
