Pigi Devetzi was primarily known as a triple jumper although she also competed at the top level in the long jump. All of her international medals were won in the triple jump, with silver at the 2004 Olympics and bronze in 2008, adding another bronze at the 2007 World Championships. Devetzi also won a bronze medal in 2004 and silver in 2008 at the World Indoor Championships. In 2006 she was the silver medalist at Göteborg in the European Championships. She did win the World Athletics Final in 2005 at Monte Carlo, and was the CISM (Military) Games champion in the long jump in 2007. In 2016, Devetzi had a positive test for stanozolol in a sample from 2007, and all of her results from that year’s World Championships on, including her 2008 Olympic bronze, were struck.
After her athletic retirement, Devetzi became an athletic trainer in Greece and did some work as a fashion model. She earned a degree in rehabilitation and began studies in gymnastics sports science.
