Tyler Hamilton USA CYC 2000—2004 2004 Athínai – Individual Time Trial (1). Road race (18) Blood doping. His A-sample later suggested he may have blood doped. His B-sample was frozen and when it was attempted to be analyzed, it was not suitable for analysis. Thus this was not a doping positive. However, the Russian Olympic Committee protested, as their rider, Vyacheslav Yekimov, would have moved up to the gold medal position. This protest was eventually disallowed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Hamilton retained his gold medal. However in 2011 he confessed that he had used doping products for a large part of his career and voluntarily returned his Olympic gold medal to the IOC. He was formally stripped of the medal in 2012.
