Biography

Foil fencer Romi Weiß-Scherberger won the bronze medal with the German foil team at the 1959 Worlds under her maiden name Weiß. At the 1960 Roma Olympics she came fourth with the team, and was eliminated in the first round of the individual event. Two years later she won her single West German national title in the individual foil.

At the 1964 Tokyo Games she then won a bronze medal with the foil team and reached the second round of the individual event, this time under her married name Scherberger. The same year she was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, the highest German sports award.
