Biography

George Carpenter represented Ireland in fencing at the 1952 and 1960 Olympic Games. He was a native of Adrigole, County Cork, but spent much of his life in Glenbrook, where he was the proprietor of the well-known Club Hotel. At his death in 2005, he was Ireland’s oldest surviving Olympian.
