Biography

Aleksandr Alenitsyn played for the Krestovsky Lawn Tennis Club and eventually became its chairman. He was the 1909-11 St. Petersburg Champion, and won the 1911 Moskva Tournament. He participated in international matches against England in 1913 and in the Moskva/Petrograd matches from 1920-22. After the Russian Revolution, Alenitsyn was arrested in September 1922 for having links in foreign countries. He was tortured for several days and, 20 days after his arrest, committed suicide in his cell.
