Biography

German rifle sports shooter Maik Eckhardt participated in five consecutive Olympic Games from 1996 Atlanta to 2012 London. He reached finals on three occasions but failed to win a medal. In 2000, he placed an unfortunate fourth in the small-bore rifle 50 metres prone event. In 2004, Eckhard finished fifth and sixth respectively with the air rifle and the small-bore rifle.

In 2007 and 2011 Eckhardt won two team silver medals at the European Championships. By profession, he owned a company based in Dortmund developing accessories for sport shooters, and selling computer-aided training systems.
