Biography

East German freestyle swimmer Lars Hinneburg won a silver medal with the 4x200 free relay (although he only swam the heats) and a bronze with the 4x100 free at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1986, he won the gold medal at the World Championships with the 4x200 free relay. In 1985 and 1987, Hinneburg also won relay silver medals at the Europeans.

After German re-unification, Hinneburg worked with the university of Rostock in the marketing sector. He also became a board member of his home club HSG Uni Rostock. In 2020, he became CEO of AWO-Sozialdienst Rostock gGmbH (Workers’ Welfare Association Social Services).
