Biography

Aleksandr Boloshev started to play basketball in 1966 in Dynamo Volgograd. In 1969 he joined Dynamo Moskva and played there until the end of his playing career in 1980. Boloshev never won the Soviet title, but he won three bronzes with Dynamo Moskva from the Soviet championships in 1975, 1976 and 1980. Boloshev had also quite a long career with Soviet national team. He won Olympic gold in 1972, was World champion in 1974 and won silver at the 1978 World Championships.

Boloshev won the European titles in 1969 and 1971, silver at the 1975 European Championships and bronze at the 1973 European Championships. He also won the Universiade in 1970 and silver at the 1973 Universiade. After finishing his playing career in 1980, Boloshev worked as a coach with Dynamo Moskva women’s team, being their head coach from 1982 to 1984. From 1984 until 1998, Boloshev worked as a manager with Dynamo Moskva men’s team and from 1999 until his death in 2010 he worked as a deputy general director of BC Khimki.
