Biography

Savatheda Fynes was a Bahamian sprinter who competed at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, winning two medals in the 4x100 metre relay, gold in 2000 and silver in 1996. Fynes won gold in the 4x100 at the 1999 World Championships and won a bronze medal in the 100 metres at the 1997 Worlds.

Fynes first attended Southern University in the United States, but moved to Eastern Michigan University, and finally transferred to Michigan State University. At Southern University she won 4 NAIA titles in 1994 – the 60 yards indoors, and the 100, 200, and 4x400 outdoors. She was 1995 NCAA champion in the 100, and second in the 200, while at Eastern Michigan. While at Michigan State she won the 100 and 200 at the 1997 NCAA Meet and was also 1997 NCAA indoor champion in the 55 metres.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.91 (1999); 200 – 22.32 (1999).
