Biography

Outside of his day job as a bank clerk Howard Kinsman was one of South Africa’s best sprinters during the 1920s. Kinsman ran in the 200 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1924 Paris Olympics. In the 200 metres he won his heat and finished in second place in his quarter-final heat before being eliminated in the semi-finals. He was also scheduled to compete in the 400 metres and the 4 × 400 metres relay in Paris but did not run in either race. Four years later he ran in the 200 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Games where he reached the quarter-finals. In February 1950 Kinsman travelled to Auckland for the opening of the British Empire Games in New Zealand.
