Biography

Çetin Şahiner ran the high hurdles at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics, and also competed in the high jump in 1960. Şahiner was capped 167 times for Turkey between 1954-67. He won 16 national titles in the 110 hurdles, the high jump, and the decathlon. Şahiner was the first Turk to better 2 metres in the high jump. After his competitive career ended in 1968, he worked with the Physical Training Ankara Regional Directorate.

Personal Bests: 110H – 14.5 (1963); HJ – 2.02 (1958).
