Biography

Marcel Meyer de Stadelhofen was a Swiss shooter who competed in multiple events at the 1906 Intercalated Olympics, where he won two gold medals in free rifle, both individual and team. He was World Champion in team rifle events at the 1906-10, 1912, and 1914 World Championships.

Meyer de Stadelhofen studied law and obtained a doctorate in Genève, and then spent 18 years on the Genève Grand Council. From 1918-30 he was with Parti Indépendant and from 1930-35 he was with the independent Christian Social Party. He also worked in sports administration, leading the Union Cycliste Suisse from 1906-09. In 1912 Meyer de Stadelhofen helped found the Schweizerisches Olympisches Committee, initially serving as vice-president, and then became President from 1915-21.
