Biography

Doris Neuner’s career highlight was winning the 1992 Winter Olympics luge gold medal at Albertville, placing just ahead of her sister, Angelika Neuner, who won the silver medal. Doris Neuner was a five-time Austrian champion, winning in 1989-93. In singles, she won a bronze medal at the 1993 World Championship, but in mixed team events at the Worlds, she won silvers in 1991 and 1993 and a bronze in 1995. Neuner was second in the seasonal World Cup in 1993 and third in 1992. She later became a technical advisor and coordinator of the Youth DSLV Base in Winterberg / Sauerland. In 1992 she was awarded the Gold Medal for Meritorious Service to the Austrian Republic.
