Biography

Günther Csar was first noticed internationally when he won a silver medal at the 1986 World Junior Championships at Lake Placid. The native Tyrolean competed in Nordic combined from 1980-96, with his two biggest achievements his Olympic bronze medal in the team event at Calgary in 1988, with Hansjörg Aschenwald and Klaus Sulzenbacher, and a gold medal in the team event at the 1991 World Championships, with Sulzenbacher and Klaus Ofner. Csar retired from competition in 1996 and became Nordic combined coach for the Austrian Ski Federation.
