Biography

Christof Duffner started ski jumping at the age of 11. Together with the non-Olympian East German André Kiesewetter, he was one of the first German ski jumpers to use the V-style. Duffner won a gold medal in the team competition at the Lillehammer Olympics. His best victory was in winning the Oberstdorf event in the 1992-93 Four Hills Tournament.

At Winter Olympics, Duffner won the team gold medal at Lillehammer in 1994. In 1992, he finished fifth with the team. Individually, he was 11th in the large hill event at both the 1992 and the 1994 Winter Games. In the normal hill events, he finished 18th in 1994 and 17th in 2002.

Duffner helped Germany to win a bronze medal in the team event at the 1997 World Championships. Although he wanted to retire during the 1998-99 season, he was nominated for the World Championships by the national coach Reinhard Heß, and won a gold medal in the team competition, before finally retiring in 2004.

Domestically, Duffner won one gold (in 2001 with the team), seven silvers and four bronzes. He later made his living as a teacher and youth coach.
