Biography

Bill Strum was an American curler who was on the USA team for the curling demonstration events at both the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. He was an alternate in 1988 but competed in 1992. Strum made his international début at the Scotch Cup in 1965 in Perth, Scotland. He was on three World Champion teams, in 1965, 1974, and 1978. Strum finished second at the 1969 World Championships and third at the 1968 Worlds. He was also on winning teams at the 1974 and 1978 Air Canada Silver Broom Championship.

Bill Strum was on the 1988 and 1992 Olympic teams, and the 1965 and 1974 World Championship teams, alongside his brother-in-law, Bud Somerville. Bill Strum’s son, Mike Strum, was also on the USA curling team at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Bill Strum was a member of the Superior Curling Club in Superior, Wisconsin, was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, and was a partner at Central Sheet Metal.
