Markus Schmidt’s career lasted from 1987-97. He competed twice at the Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal in singles in 1992. Schmidt won two medals in mixed team events at the World Championships, with a gold in 1996 and a silver in 1991. In 1996 he also won a bronze medal in singles at the European Championships in Sigulda, Latvia.
